About Us

This blog is ongoing project by Daniel Doen Silberberg, Sensei, and the members of Lost Coin to share our experience and creativity and provide an opportunity for others to join in this circle of creation.  We encourage you to participate in our evolution.

Doen Sensei has for some time been exploring new areas includingteaching “distance” students who are members of Lost Coin and with whom he conducts one-on-one teaching by means of Skype and video (skypesan) as well as maintaining a close teacher-student relationship.  He has also had a stimulating time teaching on Second Life.  As a group it is our intention to go further into these areas and utilize whatever new technologies emerge to work collaboratively with members and students across the globe.

It is our hope to establish a broader culture.  In addition to talks from Doen Sensei, we also offer collaborative posts including other aspects of Lost Coin’s shared interests.

We are interested in collaboration and exchange, and we invite your input and participation.  In essence you might say we are creating a culture, one that is broad, contemporary, and open.  We invite all those interested in the development of spirituality, science, art, and business to be part of our emerging culture.

Lost Coin, a group based in Salt Lake City, Utah; San Francisco, California; and Dusseldorf, Germany continues the tradition of evolving the presentation of  Zen while retaining its central essence.

Founded by Daniel Doen Silberberg Sensei in 2006, Lost Coin incorporates Zen teachings and methods with insights and practices derived from other wisdom traditions—most notably, those of G.I. Gurdjieff.

It is an approach that abandons traditional religious and cultural trappings in order to embrace and unite with contemporary developments in science, technology, business, and art.  In the individual practitioner’s case this translates to an emphasis on the development of  excellence in one’s daily life.  Here and now means here and now.
